Why the lagoon, and not the sea.

Flat water is the strongest technical argument this school has, and the only one we can make without fabricating a fact. Lagoa da Conceição is enclosed, shallow in parts and steadier in wind — learning conditions. The swell, cross-shore wind and current of an open beach are exactly what gets in a beginner’s way.
