Juliana LoydEnglish Teacher · Florianópolis [CONFIRM]

Let’s get you speaking, not just studying.

One-to-one English lessons for people who have moved to Florianópolis, or are about to. Built around your work, your week and the conversations you actually need to have.

This headline is ours, not hers. [CONFIRM Juliana’s actual voice and phrasing from her Instagram once it can be read] — the copy on this site should sound like her, not like an agency.

Meet me

Hear me before you book me.

Sixty seconds of me talking to you directly: who I teach, how I teach, and what a first lesson actually feels like. If you are nervous about speaking — and most people are — this is the part that helps.

Captioned, with a full transcript below. The transcript is not a formality: it puts her spoken words into the HTML, which for someone with no website at all is a real organic asset. Never autoplays with sound.

About me

I teach one person at a time.

Every one of those rows is blank on purpose. CELTA, TESOL, TEFL, DELTA, a degree, examiner status — all verifiable, and all existential for a personal brand. Not one of them is written speculatively here.

Who I work with

You will recognise yourself in one of these.

People book when they see themselves described, not when they read a list of features.

The professional who reads fluently but freezes in meetings

You understand every email. You follow the documentation. Then the call starts and the words stop arriving. This is the most common thing I work on, and it is a speaking problem, not a knowledge problem.

The newcomer who needs English for work in a Brazilian company

You have moved here, the company works in English with clients abroad, and you need to hold your own in that room from next month, not next year.

The person who studied for years and still cannot hold a conversation

Years of courses, grammar you can recite, and a conversation that dies in thirty seconds. We start from what you can already do, and build outward from there.

The parent who needs English for their own life

School meetings, forms, doctors, the other parents. Practical, unglamorous English for the situations you are actually in.

These four profiles are written to be plausible for a teacher serving expats. [CONFIRM who she actually works with] — and note the fourth describes the adult. No child appears in any image or description on this site, even if she teaches young learners.

How lessons work

One method, told properly.

Not a catalogue of courses to compare. Just how I actually work.

A free trial lesson

We meet, we talk, and I find your level by listening — not with a test.

We agree what you want

A promotion, a move, a conversation you keep avoiding. We name it, so lessons have a target.

Lessons built around your life

Your work, your situation, your vocabulary — not a coursebook someone else wrote for someone else.

Practice between lessons

Short, realistic things you can actually fit into a week.

Lesson length: [CONFIRM] Frequency: [CONFIRM] Online platform: [CONFIRM] In-person area: [CONFIRM] Cancellation: [CONFIRM] Materials: [CONFIRM]

[CONFIRM her actual method.] The four steps above are a reasonable shape for one-to-one teaching, not a description of what she does — and the difference matters, because this section is where a visitor decides whether she sounds like someone they want to spend an hour a week with.

Pricing

Hidden pricing is the number-one complaint about private teachers.

Being transparent here costs nothing and is a genuine differentiator — most teachers make you ask.

Under the CDC, a package has to state the number of lessons, the validity period, and the cancellation, rescheduling and refund terms. Package expiry is the single most common dispute in private tutoring — saying it plainly protects her, not just the student. A trial lesson is only advertised as free if it genuinely is.

If she would rather discuss price in a message, this section says so plainly — “every student’s schedule is different, message me and I’ll send you options” — rather than omitting the topic. Omitting it is what makes people book on a marketplace instead.

Pick a time. That is the whole thing.

No level test, no form wall, no waiting on a DM. Times below are shown in your timezone, and stated in BRT (UTC−3) as well — because I teach across timezones and “3pm” on its own has caused more missed lessons than anything else.

Availability calendar

Loads only after consent — an embedded calendar sets cookies and transfers data before anyone has booked anything.

Every answer is blank because every answer is hers. The last question — do you teach Portuguese too? — is the one that matters most commercially: if she does, that may be the larger opportunity in Florianópolis and deserves equal billing rather than a footnote.

Students

There is no testimonials section here yet, and that is on purpose.

Testimonials matter more for a solo teacher than for almost any other business — and that is exactly why they cannot be invented. A teacher caught with fabricated reviews has nothing else to fall back on: her name is the entire business. Real, named, consented quotes go here, or the section stays deleted.

[CONFIRM real, named, consented student testimonials] — and never one from or about a minor. No stock portrait is ever used as a student.
