Getting here

Two buildings on the same road, and a self check-in that needs the right door.

Getting here

There are two buildings, and that has to be clear before arrival

Shared dorms at 2826, private rooms at 2616, on the same road. Today that is a footnote — and someone arriving at 23:00 with a code and no reception needs to know which door to type it into.

Location

South of the island, with a way out to everything

The four lines are theirs. The distances are not yet — and they are exactly what an international guest wants to know before booking.

  • Close to the airport and the bus terminal
  • Access to the south and east island beaches
  • Next to the bus stop
  • On the busiest bar avenue

Self check-in

There is no reception — and that is the point

In their words: “With your own access code you can come and go at any time without meeting a member of staff.” Landed at 2am from Buenos Aires? Not a problem.

Book

Pick the room and the dates. Check-in from 14:00, check-out until 12:00.

Get your code

The access code arrives before you do [CONFIRM by which channel and how far ahead].

Come and go whenever

No reception hours and no queue. The lockable locker key is handed over at check-in.

A building with no reception needs to publish an emergency contact and a 24h channel. It is a duty-of-care matter and, framed well, it is also a trust asset. [CONFIRM the emergency contact and the after-hours process]

FAQ

The FAQ that currently 404s

The frequently-asked-questions link on the live site returns “Pagina nao encontrada!”. This is the rebuilt FAQ — and the old address needs a 301 on migration day.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in from 14:00, check-out until 12:00. Since there is no reception, you let yourself in with your code whenever you arrive after that.

How does the access code work?

Every guest gets their own code. Which channel it is sent through and how far ahead [CONFIRM].

Are there lockers?

Yes. At check-in you get a key for an individual, private space for your things. Locker size and whether a large backpack fits [CONFIRM].

Do I need to bring a towel?

[CONFIRM]

Is there parking?

[CONFIRM]

What is the minimum age?

[CONFIRM] — hostels usually have one, and it is not published today.

What is the cancellation policy?

[CONFIRM] — and it needs to appear before payment, not after.

Do the two buildings work the same way?

Shared dorms are at 2826 and private rooms at 2616, on the same road. Whether access, the code and the times are identical at both [CONFIRM].

Is the female dorm really women-only?

Joaquina is the female-only dorm. Who may book it, how that is enforced in practice and whether it has its own bathroom [CONFIRM the written policy].

What payment methods do you take?

Pix, card and others [CONFIRM]. All figures in Brazilian reais (R$), including on the Spanish and English versions — no conversion.

Does R$ 33 a night apply to any stay?

No. R$ 33 is the shared-dorm rate at 29 nights or more. Each figure in the table applies only inside its own band, and Smart Hostel's own caveat says special dates, high season and public holidays may change it.
