Changing the dates updates the nights — and the nights light up the price band in the table above. The widget and the table speak the same language.

Prices by length of stay

The longer you stay, the cheaper the night

This table is the most valuable thing on the Smart Hostel site, and today it is a static list. Drag the nights and watch the rate fall. Past 29 nights in a shared dorm it goes from R$ 70,00 to R$ 33,00.

“Rates subject to change on special dates, high season and public holidays.” — Smart Hostel's own wording, kept here beside the table rather than in a footnote. The displayed rate must match what the booking engine charges [CONFIRM].

Note that the bands are not uniform: the shared tier breaks at 6 / 7–14 / 15–28 / 29+, while the three private tiers break at 7 / 8–14 / 15–29 / 30+. That is theirs and it has been preserved exactly, not tidied into a uniform grid. [CONFIRM whether the asymmetry is deliberate]

Self check-in

There is no reception — and that is the point

In their words: “With your own access code you can come and go at any time without meeting a member of staff.” Landed at 2am from Buenos Aires? Not a problem.

Book

Pick the room and the dates. Check-in from 14:00, check-out until 12:00.

Come and go whenever

No reception hours and no queue. The lockable locker key is handed over at check-in.

A building with no reception needs to publish an emergency contact and a 24h channel. It is a duty-of-care matter and, framed well, it is also a trust asset. [CONFIRM the emergency contact and the after-hours process]

Private rooms

Long stay · digital nomads

Past 29 nights this stops being a hostel and becomes housing

R$ 33 a night in a shared bed and R$ 99 in a studio, with coworking, fibre Wi-Fi, a full kitchen and five bathrooms. That does not compete with hostels — it competes with rentals. And an OTA does not know how to sell 30 nights.

  • A coworking space with fibre internet
  • A large kitchen — cooking daily changes the monthly maths
  • Barbecue and social area
  • Self check-in: come and go on whatever time zone you are on
  • Five spacious, accessible bathrooms
  • A lockable locker and linen made up daily
STOCK A laptop and a notebook on a work table in good daylight, adult hands writing, no face in frame. Stock photograph used as a placeholder.

Kitchen and BBQ

The kitchen and the barbecue are the hostel

It is what separates a hostel people recommend from one they merely sleep in. Today it is a bullet point.

STOCK A bright shared kitchen with a counter, open shelving and stools, no people. Stock photograph used as a placeholder.
STOCK A long table laid outdoors at dusk, with nobody at the table. Stock photograph used as a placeholder.

360° tour

See the room before you book

Smart Hostel already has a 360-degree virtual tour — and it is buried in a photo submenu. At hostel tier, letting someone see the actual dorm before booking is the single biggest removal of hesitation there is.

Guest reviews

What guests wrote

Smart Hostel publishes testimonials from guests in Brazil, Argentina and Portugal — two of them written in Spanish. That is the proof the site needs ES and EN, which is why they stay in their original language.

Floripa

What to do in the south of the island

South and east beaches

Campeche, Armacao, Mocambique, Joaquina, Praia Mole, Pantano do Sul — the same ones the rooms are named after.

Surf and trails

Lagoinha do Leste and Naufragados can only be reached on foot, and they are the two walks everybody remembers afterwards.

The bar avenue

The phrase is theirs: they are on the busiest bar avenue. Walking out and coming back with your own code at 3am is exactly what self check-in solves.

FAQ

The FAQ that currently 404s

The frequently-asked-questions link on the live site returns “Pagina nao encontrada!”. This is the rebuilt FAQ — and the old address needs a 301 on migration day.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in from 14:00, check-out until 12:00. Since there is no reception, you let yourself in with your code whenever you arrive after that.

How does the access code work?

Every guest gets their own code. Which channel it is sent through and how far ahead [CONFIRM].

Are there lockers?

Yes. At check-in you get a key for an individual, private space for your things. Locker size and whether a large backpack fits [CONFIRM].

Do I need to bring a towel?

[CONFIRM]

Is there parking?

[CONFIRM]

What is the minimum age?

[CONFIRM] — hostels usually have one, and it is not published today.

What is the cancellation policy?

[CONFIRM] — and it needs to appear before payment, not after.

Do the two buildings work the same way?

Shared dorms are at 2826 and private rooms at 2616, on the same road. Whether access, the code and the times are identical at both [CONFIRM].

Is the female dorm really women-only?

Joaquina is the female-only dorm. Who may book it, how that is enforced in practice and whether it has its own bathroom [CONFIRM the written policy].

What payment methods do you take?

Pix, card and others [CONFIRM]. All figures in Brazilian reais (R$), including on the Spanish and English versions — no conversion.

Does R$ 33 a night apply to any stay?

No. R$ 33 is the shared-dorm rate at 29 nights or more. Each figure in the table applies only inside its own band, and Smart Hostel's own caveat says special dates, high season and public holidays may change it.
